R3 - A first person sword fighter experience built in Unity for PC and HTC Vive.

 0 STORYLINE

 
 
 

The story starts in a futuristic setting with the main character, the Engineer, building a giant robot. Unsatisfied with the mechanical nature of the robot, the Engineer builds an artificial heart for his creation.

The heart proves to be too powerful for the Robot. It wreaks havoc in its attempt to control its emotions. The Engineer, the protector of his people, slashes the Robot’s chest apart with his sword and removes the heart. Unable to destroy the powerful artefact, he flees to hide it, never again to be discovered. The Robot, enraged at losing its heart, sets off in its search, destroying everything along the way. 

Devastated, the Engineer lures it to the abandoned land where he created the Robot, and attempts to kill it before it finds its heart.

The game was developed as small modules that were tested in VR before incorporating visual design, final models and animations.

 
 

4 EXHIBITION

 
 
 
 

We presented R3 at a 3 day exhibition at NIC. The first day presented challenges that we had not come across while testing with friends and family. Many people were completely new to VR and needed time to acclimatize and understand what is happening.

From day 2, one of my teammates started playing the game for every attendee to help them get over their apprehension.
